MOTT STUDENT ART SHOW
POSTER COMPETITION • CLASS PROJECT

THE GOAL
A class project with the goal of creating a poster design to represent the annual Student Art Show at Mott Community College. This was a student competition, with the winning poster being used to represent the art show for that particular year. Both of these were selected as the winning designs for the 63rd and 64th annual shows.

THE PROCESS • 63RD
I wanted to represent the local community that many of the students are a part of, so I Illustrated many of the notable landmarks of Flint, with you a theme of "flooding" the city with art. The goal with these design decisions were to keep it feeling youthful and a bit DIY to help communicate the fact that it was a student show, in contrast to a traditional art exhibit.

THE PROCESS • 64TH
The problem to solve with this design was how to represent Mott and all the different forms of art that would be showcased. I settled on the concept of creating a "texture" or background from illustrations, many representing different disciplines as well as random designs, and illustrations representing Moitt. This was designed to be a broad and inclusive representation of the event, with flexibility to design additional collateral for the event.

THE RESULT
The end result was 2 winning designs, both with very unique approaches of representation. I think the 63rd was a fun, youthful concept that helped get people excited about the event. And the 64th was a more conceptually complete design when it comes to the main goal of representing a diverse event.
